Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to adjust a commercial door closer?

Closer adjustment alone is typically a single service-call visit at the $150 minimum. Full LCN, Norton, or Dorma closer replacement runs $315–$745, depending on hardware grade and mounting (regular arm vs parallel arm vs hold-open). Diagnosis is included in the visit — if it just needs a sweep-speed and latch-speed turn, that's the visit.

Can you replace a panic bar?

Yes. Von Duprin, Detex, and Falcon panic exit hardware — repair or full replacement. Typical repair $315–$630; full replacement $605–$1,265, depending on hardware grade. We also handle push-bar dogging hardware, strike replacement, and end-cap repairs.

Do you do dock-door hardware?

Yes — minor dock-door hardware. Container T-handle replacement, dock-door lock-rod repair, keeper-plate welding, dock-door sweep replacement. Single latch $150–$490; full dock-door hardware refresh $745–$1,610 per door. We do not replace the dock door panel itself or service hydraulic dock levelers.

Will NHS work with my facility-management aggregator?

Yes. We have national-account work-order experience with multi-site retail and small-office facility management aggregators — Best Buy, Aspen Dental, Walgreens, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Total Wine, Hollister, PacSun, Restoration Hardware. Net-30 / Net-45 PO terms available. Send the work order to nicholas@nhsindy.com or your dispatch portal contact.

Can you certify a fire-rated door assembly?

No. NHS does not certify fire-rated door assemblies. Fire-door annual inspection and certification under NFPA 80 is outside our scope. We can repair or replace individual hardware components on a fire-rated assembly using listed, compatible parts, but the certification itself is out of scope.

Do you keep storefront-door parts in stock?

Case-by-case. Common closers (LCN 4040, Norton 1601), standard panic bars, and generic push/kick plates we keep on hand or can source from local commercial hardware suppliers. Specialty hardware — manufacturer-specific aluminum storefront parts, custom finishes, electrified hardware — typically 1–3 business days to source. We confirm parts availability before scheduling the visit.

How is a stuck commercial door scheduled?

Visit timing depends on the current schedule, and we confirm it when we reply to the work order. Retainer accounts and active safety issues (panic bar failed, exit door won't latch) get priority. Emergency weekend rates available on retainer accounts.
