Most roof problems aren't a 1-2 shingle patch — they're storm damage, flashing failure, valley issues, or underlayment rot, and those need a licensed roofer for both safety and any insurance claim documentation. NHS handles only the narrow case where 1-2 shingles got displaced from a walkable single-story pitched roof and the underlayment is intact. Anything larger we refer out, every time.

Why do you require a site visit before quoting a shingle patch?
Three things you can't see from the ground or photos: (1) actual pitch and walkability, (2) underlayment condition (rotted decking, soaked felt = referral to a roofer), (3) whether the loss is from a larger storm-damage pattern that requires a licensed roofer for insurance claims. The visit is the diagnosis — and it's how we protect customers from getting in over our head.
What if more shingles are missing once you arrive?
If the visit reveals 3+ missing shingles, steep pitch, flashing/valley/ridge issues, or interior leak signs, we don't try to expand the job — we refer to a licensed roofer and only charge the trip minimum (or waive it for the inconvenience, owner's call). Better safe than wrong.
Will my insurance cover a roof patch?
Storm-damage claims usually require a licensed roofer's report — handyman patches typically aren't documented in a way insurance will reimburse. If you suspect storm damage and want to file a claim, call your insurance first and ask them to recommend a roofer; we're happy to step aside in that case.
