WINDOW INSTALL

Window Replacement & RepairSquare Jamb. Tight Seal.

Luxury home window replacement — handyman installing Andersen black-frame fixed pane with proper flashing

Most window replacements fail at the flashing, not the window. We do the boring waterproofing step that keeps your sill dry for 30 years.

Vinyl replacement windows, storm windows, weatherstripping, and sash repair on older double-hungs. Most Central Indiana replacements are insert-style vinyl into existing wood jambs — a 1-day install for most homes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does window replacement cost per window?

Insert vinyl (most common): $650–$1,100 total per window installed. Full-frame replacement (bigger job, longer-lasting): $1,100–$2,200 per window. Storm windows: $375–$675 each. Whole-house quotes get a per-window discount on labor.

Do you install custom-size windows?

Yes. We measure existing openings to the 1/16", order custom from a regional supplier (typically 2–4 weeks lead time), and install on a scheduled return visit. Common for older Greenwood and Meridian-Kessler homes where stock sizes don't fit the original rough opening.

Can you do egress windows?

We install egress-rated replacement windows into existing egress openings, including the screen and weatherstripping. We do not cut new egress openings in basement walls — that requires a foundation contractor. If a code inspector flagged your basement bedroom, we can swap the window if the opening is already correct, or refer you to a foundation crew if it isn't.

Do you handle the old window disposal?

Yes. Old windows, sashes, and trim debris go out with us as part of the install. Whole-house jobs roll a small dumpster onto the driveway with property-owner approval; single windows leave in the truck. No old glass left in the yard.

Do you do storm windows?

Yes. Storm-window install runs $195–$295 labor per window plus the storm itself ($175–$375 for standard aluminum or vinyl). Common request on older Greenwood and Center Grove homes where the primary windows are still serviceable but drafty in winter.

Will the new windows be weatherproof immediately?

Yes. Every install gets proper flashing tape at the head and jambs, backer rod plus exterior sealant at the perimeter, and interior caulking before the trim goes back. The window is rain- and snow-tight the day we leave. Most replacement failures happen at the flashing step, not the window itself — we don't skip it.

Can you repair a historic double-hung window?

Yes. For Meridian-Kessler, Williams Creek, and similar pre-1940 homes, we repair original sash-cord double-hungs rather than replacing — preserves character and is usually cheaper than full replacement. $225–$395 per window for sash, cord, and pocket rebuild.

Do you do new construction window openings?

No. NHS replaces windows in existing openings and does sash, screen, and weatherstrip work. We do not cut new openings, modify load-bearing framing, or do new-construction headers — that's a framing/structural job. If you need a new opening cut, we'll refer you to a framer or GC and come back to flash and trim once the opening is in.

How long does window install take?

Insert replacements: 45–90 minutes per window. Whole-house replacement (12–18 windows): 2–3 days. Historic sash repair: 2–4 hours per window. Storm-window install: 30–60 minutes per opening.
